
For centuries, the music traditions of Europe and Latin America have been a never-ending source of attraction and reciprocal influence.
Alongside the indigenous traditions which underpin a whole range of musical developments to the present day, particularly in the Andes region, African influences were behind many of the specific music forms that emerged from the Caribbean to Brazil. There are also traces of European migrants which lead back indirectly or directly to the old continent and strongly influence the music scene here.
The onda latina music programme has three main themes:

Vienna markets and squares
Music and dance groups from Latin America and the Caribbean will bring Latin Amercan rhythms to Vienna's markets and squares. The groups will perform on Thursdayg, 11.05, Friday, 12.05 and Saturday, 13.05. on the Naschmarkt, the Meisel and Rochusmarkt, in the Graben, in der Kärntner and Mariahilferstraße and in the pedestrian zone Favoriten.
