One of the aims of the festival is to create a space for contemporary Latin American and Caribbean literature in Austria and give writers the opportunity to report on social realities in their native country in a forum separate from the big political events. Several prominent representatives of Latin American literature wil present their work to a wide audience and give insight into social realities in Latin America. The most well known writers include Horacio Castellanos Moya from El Salvador, Paulo Lins from Brazil, Lorenzo Lunar Cardedo from Cuba and Javier Mosquera Saravia from Guatemala. But Latin American writers living and working in Austria are also involved in the festival: Sueli Menezes, Lidio Mosca Bustamante, Rubia Sagaldo, Verónica Jaffé and Beatriz Freydell (poetry). The only native Austrian is Alexander Peer.
The readings in Vienna will be held in the Europasaal of the Austrian Latin American Institute, the Urania, WUK, Stift Göttweig, the film club Drosendorf, the Kik in Ried, the Literaturhaus Salzburg and at the University of Innsbruck.
