
The film "Cidade de Deus – City of God" based on the novel of the same name by Paulo Lins (Brazil), which was nominated for several Oscars in 2002, will be screened during the Onda Latina culture festival.

In May a special information campaign will inform the public in Vienna about the EU-LAC Summit and about Latin America and the Caribbean. Info screens in the underground and in train stations (1-13 May) will show 20-second trailers featuring pictures and interesting facts about all 33 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean taking part in the summit. Words of welcome in German, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish will be flashed on 400 city lights in the city centre (11-18 May) and handed out on 70 000 'free cards'.
The radio stations Ö1, FM4 and Radio Vienna and ORF/TV will report on the individual cultural events.
From the beginning of April until the end of June, Ö1 is reporting in depth on political and economic themes and featuring numerous cultural, scientific, social and religious programmes on Latin America and the Caribbean in connection with the summit. The other ORF stations Ö3, FM4 and regional radio will also report on the events around the summit.

Martin von Hildebrand, winner of the alternative Nobel Prize and soul singer Dorretta Carter are just two of the artists performing at the Austrian Latin America Institute.
