On Monday, 22 May 2006 the meeting of Foreign Ministers EU Troika with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will take place in Vienna. In addition to Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik, the meeting will be attended by the Foreign Minister of Niger and current chair of ECOWAS, Aïchatou Mindaoudou, the Foreign Minister of Ghana, Nana Addo Akufo-Addo and the Executive Secretary of ECOWAS, Mohamed Ibn Chambas. State Secretary Pertti Torstila from Finland and Stefano Manservisi, Director-General for Development representing the European Commission, will also be at the meeting.
The main topics on the agenda will be the political developments in West Africa, such as the situation in Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Togo, economic relations between the EU and West Africa and current regional issues.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs invites the press to the following two events:
