Vienna (OTS) – Council President Wolfgang Schüssel today received the Swiss President Moritz Leuenberger for talks in the Federal Chancellery. During the Swiss President’s first trip abroad, which is traditionally to Austria, relations between Switzerland and the European Union were the main topic of discussion.
Council President Schüssel informed President Leuenberger about the Austrian Presidency’s themes and priorities for the first half of 2006. In addition, further specific possibilities for cooperation in the areas of research and education were discussed. Both sides also advocated speedy conduct of the ratification processes still pending in respect of agreements between Switzerland and the EU.
