On Monday, 6 February 2006, State Secretary Hans Winkler will have talks with Hilary Benn, the UK Secretary of State for International Development, Kim Darroch, EU policy adviser to Prime Minister Blair, and Lord Triesman, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the UK Foreign Office.
The talks with Secretary of State Benn will concern coordination of positions on EU financial matters relevant to development cooperation and continuation of the work on the 10th European Development Fund. Another topic of conversation will be the implementation of the Union’s Africa strategy, which was adopted under the UK Presidency.
Winkler’s meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office and in the Foreign Office will focus on current EU topics.
In his capacity as representative of the country holding the Presidency, the State Secretary will then attend the Wilton Park conference on the future of the European Union in Sussex, where he will give a speech on the future course of procedure relating to the Constitutional Treaty.
