Meeting of Foreign Ministers EU Troika - Africa in Vienna

Invitation and accreditation information for the media

 

On Monday, 8 May 2006 the meeting of Foreign Ministers EU Troika - Africa will take place in Vienna in the framework of the EU-Africa Dialogue. In addition to Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik, the meeting will be attended by her counterpart from the Congo, Rodolphe Adada, representing the chairmanship of the African Union, the Foreign Minister of Nigeria, Oluyemi Adeniji, the Foreign Minister of Sudan, Lam Akol, the Commissioners of the African Union for Economic Affairs, Maxwell Mkwezalamba, and for Peace and Security, Said Djinnit. The European Commissioner for Development Cooperation, Louis Michel, the Foreign Minister of Finland, Erkki Tuomioja, and Koen Vervaeke, Head of the Task Force Africa of the Policy Unit of the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU will also be present.

Topics discussed at the meeting will include the implementation of the EU Strategy for Africa, the preparation of an EU-Africa migration conference and topical political issues, in particular Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad and Uganda.

 

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs invites media representatives to the following two events:

You are requested to arrive by 10.20 at the latest to allow for security checks. Registration for the film and photo opportunity does not guarantee you will be able to participate, owing to space constraints.

You are requested to arrive by 13:20 at the latest..

Registration for these events must be made EXCLUSIVELY through the Press Department of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

To register for these events, you must complete the accreditation form (www.eu2006.at/de/Media_Service/EU_AT_Troika_Application_Form2.pdf) and return it by email to pk-anmeldungen@bmaa.gv.at or by fax to ++43 (0) 50 1159 204. Please indicate on the form the press event for which you wish to register (film and photo opportunity and/or press conference).

Media representatives who have already completed this form for another Austrian Presidency event need only communicate the following data by email to pk-anmeldungen@bmaa.gv.at or by fax to ++43 (0) 50 1159 204:

Deadline for registration: Thursday, 4 May 2006, 12:00.

Please note that registered media representatives ONLY will be admitted. A valid press card or letter of confirmation from the media organisation must be presented at the entrance in Minoritenplatz 8. Media representatives will be collected from the visitors lounge.
